About Me

About me…

I’m Jeanne, the coach, trainer and equine massage therapist behind Equi’Sport Ease.

I started riding at nine years old in France, and horses have now been a major part of my life for over 20 years. Before moving to Australia, I gained experience working with horses in France, Belgium and the USA, riding and working within different professional environments. My background is primarily in dressage, showjumping and eventing, alongside many years competing in Hunter classes in France when I was younger. I have ridden, trained and competed a wide variety of horses, as well as working professionally as a rider and groom.

Since moving to Australia, I have worked in and managed riding schools, coached riders of different ages and levels, and developed Equi’Sport Ease around coaching, horse training and bodywork.

I strongly believe in continuous education and regularly look for ways to improve my knowledge, skills and the services I can offer both horses and riders. I hold a Diploma of Equitation Science as a qualified horse trainer and coach and am a qualified Equine Massage Therapist through Equestricare. I have also completed EMMETT Technique Level 1. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and the first year of a Master’s degree in Environmental Science.

My education doesn’t stop with formal qualifications. I regularly attend webinars, courses and professional development opportunities, and continue learning through educational platforms including Equitopia and Blooming Riders. I also have weekly riding lessons with Craig from CLM Equine to continue developing my own feel, technique and riding. No matter how experienced we become, I believe having an extra set of eyes on the ground is extremely valuable - and as a coach myself, I think it is important that I continue to be coached and challenged.

I have a particularly strong interest in equine behaviour, learning theory, biomechanics and welfare. Groundwork is also a significant part of my approach to training. I do a lot of groundwork with my own and training horses, using it to develop clear responses, confidence, balance and understanding before and alongside ridden work. To me, training doesn’t begin when we get in the saddle.

I believe good training should never come at the expense of the horse. My goal is to develop horses that are confident, willing and physically capable, while helping riders become clearer, more thoughtful and more effective in the way they communicate with them.

As a coach, I’m supportive and encouraging, but I’m not there simply to tell you that everything is great. I believe riders deserve honest, constructive feedback that helps them progress. I adapt my coaching to each horse-and-rider combination and will address what I believe needs improving, particularly when it affects the horse’s welfare, understanding or long-term development. You can expect encouragement when things go well, support when they don’t, and honesty about what we can do better to progress and perform without being detrimental to the horse.
